Karl Loves Every Day

Hi, I’m Karl. I’m a German Shepherd boy, and every day is important. Each morning I wake up happy. I’m happy to see my people and my sister. I’m excited to go outside. It’s amazing out there, with so many things to sniff and pee on. It takes some searching to find new things, because I’ve pretty much peed on everything. But my dad says he doesn’t mind helping me look. He said he was glad I woke him up at 4:30, so we had plenty of quiet time to explore before his coffee (I don’t know why he didn’t look happy). Did you know coffee smells really good? I can’t have it, though. Mom says the last thing I need is more energy.

Every day is special. Some days are sunny and warm. Some are rainy and quiet. But they’re all good because my people are near and I get to be part of it all. I don’t worry about yesterday or tomorrow. I just do my best with the day I have. If there’s a smell, I smell it. If there’s a sound, I listen for it. If I hear it, I look for it. If someone I love smiles at me, I remember that for a long time. That’s what makes life full.

Have I told you that I live in a house on wheels? Yep, an RV! I’m such a lucky boy. I even have my own window where I can watch the road go by when we drive. The smells change all the time: trees, ocean air, campfires, hamburgers. I love it. This is one of my favorite houses so far. Actually, I’ve liked them all. Each one has its own smells, its own corners to nap in, and its own stories to tell. I can’t wait to tell you about all of them. It doesn’t matter where we go, because every day is the best.
