My name is Karl. I am a German Shepherd. I am sassy and opinionated, and I take my responsibilities very seriously.
I have been First Mate on a sailboat in the Bahamas, an explorer of the wilds of Alaska, an adventurer along the coast of Mexico, and I am currently the Official Protector of a very important RV.
I have lived more life than most people I know and I intend to keep going.
I also have severe epilepsy. Grand mal seizures. The kind that knock me completely off my feet and steal time from me that I will never get back.
Here is what you need to know about that.
Every single time I come out of a seizure, I look around until I find my mom or my dad. And when I see them, my tail starts to wag. Because as far as I am concerned, the best thing in the world just happened. I found my people. It does not matter that I have seen them every single day of my life. It does not matter that we have sailed oceans together and crossed countries together and slept side by side through storms and seizures and everything in between.
Every single time, it is Hi. I am so glad to see you.
That is who I am. That is how I choose to live.
I don’t know what knocked me down. I just know that I got back up and you were there. That is enough. That is everything.
I share this blog with my big sister Sugar, who has Discoid Lupus, I call it Loopies, and who I look after with great dedication and zero complaints. We are both a little broken in our own ways, Sugar and I. We understand each other. Together with Mom and Dad we have sailed oceans, explored Alaska, wandered Mexico, and we are currently ruling an RV with an iron paw.
We are not perfect. We are just really, really happy to be here.
Welcome to my blog. I think we are going to be great friends.
Karl out.
